It's Christmas in Switzerland, only the Christmas tree with the apples is still missing. Suddenly the youngest grandson Mariu asks: “Why are there apples on the Christmas tree?”. The story takes us back to 1943, in the middle of the Second World War. To ensure the family's survival, Mariu's father decides to make a deal with the Wehrmacht. That Christmas Eve, two men have an interesting encounter.
