Three muslim women, three generations, one family – the film portraits Sevim (78), Emel (49) and Sumeyye (26). Emel Zeynelabidin who takes off the headscarf after 30 years of wearing one, is the central character. Emel tells her story in the context of family and political events. With a focus on the tangled web of family relationships of three generations, issues of religion and identity are broached, observing the interplay of veiling and unveiling. The movie fathoms the border zones between the canon of religion and individual responsibility, between dogmatism and tolerance.
