Triengen during the war in summer of 1940. All the men are serving on the front; the women remain at home. Strangers arrive in the village, soldiers of the “Spahis”, a notorious Algerian cavalry regiment, who are seeking a safe haven from the Germans. Although these exotic soldiers are quite an attraction for the women and girls, for the authorities they pose a threat. Sixty years later the son of one of these Spahis arrives looking for traces of his father. In Triengen he discovers secrets that should have been forgotten long ago.
