Francis Tregian is the compiler of the famous Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, the most complete collection of music ever made for this early precursor of the pianoforte, between the end of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century. The heir of a wealthy family well known for ist Catholicism in this period of the English Reform,Tregian's extensive travels through Europe are well documented.
