Members of the national football team of the former Yugoslavia tell how they experienced the war years. International football stars like the Croatian Davor Suker, the Montenegrin Dejan Savicevic and Faruk Hadzibegic of Bosnia tell how they stubbornly refused to allow nationalism destroy their team, and at the same time how they pragmatically carried on with their individual careers as international players. The central character in the film is the former national trainer Ivica Osim of Sarajevo. Despite widespread resistance to the idea by nationalists. Osim created an all-Yugoslav team, one with a good sporting chance but no political future. The story of a group of men whose orderly, picture-book world is suddenly shattered by war. It was an experience that did not end without leaving traces. War forced these athletes to concern themselves directly with political and moral questions.
