It's the first of August, the swiss national celebration day. Karin Weser, a young, ambitious woman, is invited by her boss to have supper. Her boyfriend Franz Meinhard, who doesn't like formal invitations, joins her. Karin wants to make a good impression, knowing that this would help her career in the company she works in.
