Summer in the sixties. Like every year, 11year old Lisa and her brother Willy spend their time either at the swimming pool or in the backyards of the working class area where they live. Anna, their mother works as a waitress to provide for the fatherless children and the grandmother. The relationship between Lisa and her mother is already bad, and gets even worse, when Anna announces her intention to marry Albert. Lisa sets out to do all she can to spoil the marrige plans while Oma, who will have to go to an Old People's Home, refuses to get out of bed. Their lives have been turned upside down. Lisa suddenly feels chaotic and finds everything confusing: Antonio, the young Italian, who awakens disturbing feelings in her, the suddenly aggresive local boys and her mother, who forbids her to see Antonio again.
