Director Wiedmer's personal access to the great actor Bruno Ganz – who first captured the world's imagination as the “fallen angel” in Wim Wenders' “Wings of Desire – is fundamental to this fascinating documentary. Their intimate conversations in Ganz's Zurich apartment are at the heart of the film and run the full gamut: revealing anecdotes from Ganz's childhood, Ganz's most important films and theatrical roles, and discussions on the relationship between art and politics. Clips from film and theatre performances provide an important reference to Ganz's immense body of work, including takes straight from the set of Ganz's latest film, Oliver Hirschbiegel’s “Downfall”. Written by German producer Bernd Eichinger, Ganz plays Hitler during the German dictator’s last days in his Berlin bunker.
