Hairdresser Marilyn's life is going nowhere fast: her salon has run into financial difficulties, her weight is out of control and her affair with a married man is an ongoing disaster. Her real passion is singing, but no-one other than Halil, the Turkish waiter at the local restaurant, actually appreciates her talent. But life suddenly takes an upward turn when Marilyn is discovered by a prominent music producer. Together with Halil, Marilyn even sets her sights on competing on a well known TV talent show, but there are still many more hurdles to come. Uplifting and humorous, Meier Marilyn engages on all levels as its gutsy heroine endeavors to gain respect from her peers, and most importantly, from herself.
