Six Swiss film productions and coproductions will be screened at the film festival in the Canadian metropolis of Toronto (September 8-18, 2011). Two highlights of Swiss filmmaking from this year will be attracting a great deal of attention at the largest film festival in North America: the film “Abrir puertas y ventanas” by Milagros Mumenthaler, which was honoured with the Golden Leopard in Locarno, as well as “Summer Games” by Rolando Colla, which has just celebrated its world premiere in the official programme of the Mostra in Venice. Milagros Mumenthaler and Rolando Colla will present their films personally in Toronto.

Two other coproductions are also making their way from Venice to Toronto: "Un été brûlant" by French director Philippe Garrel (coproduction: Prince Film, Undervelier and TSI); and "L'hiver dernier" by Belgian director John Shank (coproduction: PCT cinéma, Martigny and TSR). The film "Carré blanc" by French director Jean-Baptiste Léonetti, starring Carlos Leal and coproduced by Tarantula Suisse in Geneva and RTS, will celebrate its world premiere in Toronto. And "The Turin Horse" by the eminent Hungarian director Béla Tarr (coproduction: Vega Film, Zurich), which premiered at the Berlinale 2011, will be screened in the Masters programme in Toronto.

Film producer Anne Walser (C-Films) will participate in the Producers Lab Toronto. This is a workshop with twelve European and twelve Canadian film producers created by European Film Promotion (EFP) in collaboration with the Toronto Film Festival and Ontario Media Development Corporation. In 2010 Anne Walser represented Switzerland in Cannes at Producers on the Move, which is organised by EFP with support from SWISS FILMS.
