Luis est mort. Bernadette souffre d’insomnie. Le jeu d’ombre qui est projeté du pâté de maisons d’en face sur la façade sous la fenêtre de Bernadette, le détourne de son intention d’apporter à Bernadette le somnifère tant attendu. Par un heureux enchaînement de hasards, il réussit finalement à le faire. Mais tous deux ne trouveront pas le sommeil cette nuit-là.
