Thibault Villard

Cinematographer, Lighting Designer, Director

Born in 1993 in Lausanne, Thibault Villard is an artist, sound and light designer. He first trained as a sound engineer and video technician in several venues of the Swiss performing arts and music scene. In 2020 he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in cinema from the ECAL (Ecole cantonale d'art de Lausanne), as a director of photography. For his work as a cinematographer he won several awards with his diploma film CEUX QUI DÉSIRENT SE CONNAÎTRE (Best Camera Work in Lucerne) and the film LA FIÈVRE by Matias Carlier was selected for the Berlinale Generation 2021. He assists the cinematographer and light designer Jacqueline Sobiszewski for several productions. In 2022 he took over the technical direction of the Festival Les Urbaines. In 2023 he was invited by the artist Audrey Liebot to the Palais de Tokyo for a stage and video creation and to the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris for the show "Eventfully Tender" by Natasza Gerlach.
