Max Porter is an American animation filmmaker who works in partnership with Ru Kuwahata. Based in Providence, they are renowned for their distinctive mixed-media storytelling style. They have directed and produced television commercials, music videos, comics, interactive media, and four independent films. Their films have been screened at over 900 festivals worldwide, including the Sundance Film Festival, the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, and the Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Their latest short film, NEGATIVE SPACE (2017), received Academy and Annie Award nominations, as well as being shortlisted for the César Awards. It won 130 awards.
