Alessio Pizzicannella

He was born in 1973 Italy and moved to London where he studied photography at the London College of Printing, and began working for NME (New Musical Express). He collaborated with major record companies and international magazines (Times, Rolling Stone, Guardian, Observer). In 2002, he returned to Italy and worked with important Italian magazines and record companies, creating photo shoots and videos. In 2005, the photo book of Ligabue's live event "Un giorno da Liga" was published. In 2006, a second book, "Verso Sud", a travel diary that followed the band Negrita was released. Simultaneously, a documentary with the same title and the video for "Rotolando Verso Sud" were released. Alessio was responsible for the cinematography of both productions. He also made portraits of actors, directors, etc., for magazines like Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, and Max. In 2012, Alessio moved to Locarno (Switzerland). That same year, his solo exhibition "Just a Shot Away" was presented first in Milan and later in Bari, Como, Zurich, and Lugano. In 2013, he became the official photographer of the Locarno Film Festival. In 2014, he made his first short film COME UN MORTO AD ACAPULCO presented at the Solothurn Film Festival (CH). Also in 2014, he produced GLASTONBURY, a short TV documentary. In the same year, he wrote and produced PICTURES OF YOU, a 12-episode radio program for RSI (CH). In 2022, his first feature film DAWN CHORUS premiered and was showcased at the Ferrara Film Festival.
