World premiere for “Home“ in Cannes

On Sunday, May 18, 2008, “Home” the second feature-length fiction film by Ursula Meier (Box Productions, Lausanne), director from french-speaking Switzerland, will celebrate its world premiere in Cannes within the frame of a special screening, organized by the Semaine internationale de la critique. The documentary “Chrigu”, already presented at the Berlinale in 2007, will be programmed in Cannes on the occasion of the side-event ACID (Agence du cinéma indépendent pour sa diffusion).
The internationally renown actors Isabelle Huppert and Olivier Gourmet have the leading roles in “Home”, a Swiss, Belgian and French coproduction. The second fiction film by the author of “Des épaules solides” (Strong Shoulders) tells the story of a five-member family living at the edge of a still unused highway in the outskirts. As soon as the highway is put into service, the peace of mind of the family comes to a rude end …
In the official programme of the 61st Festival in Cannes (May, 14-25, 2008) Switzerland is represented with the two coproductions “Milh Hadha Al-Bahr” (Salt Of This Sea) by Palestinian director Annemarie Jacir, produced by Thelma Film, Zurich, and “Tulpan” by Kazakh director Sergey Dvortsevoy (Cobra Film, Zurich), which are presented in the section “Un Certain Regard”.
