Ursula Meier: theatrical release and retrospective in Latin America
Ursula Meier’s fiction film “Sister,” which was honoured with a Silver Bear at the Berlinale 2012, continues to steer a successful course, also in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay as of September 18.

The film “Sister” (coproduction: Vega Film, Zurich) will have its theatrical release In Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay beginning on September 18, 2013. At the same time, a retrospective of works by the Swiss film director Ursula Meier will be screened in the capital cities, with the director in attendance – in the Cinemateca Argentina, at the Festival Internacional de Cine de Asunción and in the Cinemateca Uruguaya.

The retrospective encompasses the following eight works: the three fiction films “Sister,” “Home” and “Des épaules solides”; the two documentary films “Pas les flics, pas les noirs, pas les blancs” and “Autour de Pinget”; and the three short films “Tous à table,” “Des heures sans sommeil” and “Le songe d'Isaac.” Ursula Meier will be present at the opening of her films in all three cities, and also give a masterclass.
Distribution in Latin America
SWISS FILMS brought the Latin American distributor IFA Cinema and the cinematheque operators in Buenos Aires, Asunción and Montevideo together so that the theatrical release of “Sister” occurs simultaneously with the retrospective. By now, the multi-award-winning Swiss-French coproduction has been distributed in more than 30 countries and is present on almost all continents: not only extensively throughout Europe, but also in Asia, Australia, in North and now South America. From 2010 to 2012, Latin America was the focus country for film programmes intermediated by SWISS FILMS, thereby laying the groundwork for future collaboration.
