European film productions
The festival in the Portuguese coastal city of Setubal focuses on European film productions and independent international filmmaking. Also in the running for an award in Portugal is the fiction film “Mary & Johnny” by Samuel Schwarz and Julian Grünthal, who will present the film personally in the First Works Competition. The award-winning horror film “Sennentuntschi” by Michael Steiner will be presented in the European Thrillers section.
Over the years Swiss fiction films have been regularly invited to participate in competitions at the Festroia Film Festival in Portugal. The following Swiss film productions have been honoured with awards to date: “La petite chambre” (2011); “Der Freund” (2009); and “Wenn der Richtige kommt” (2004).
