Three Swiss Films in the running for an award at Silverdocs in Washington
Two of the ten documentary films screened in the international competition at the 8th Silverdocs AFI-Discovery Channel Documentary Film Festival in Washington are from Switzerland.

Two of the ten documentary films screened in the international competition at the 8th Silverdocs AFI-Discovery Channel Documentary Film Festival in Washington (June 21-27, 2010) are from Switzerland: Vadim Jendreyko’s film “Die Frau mit den 5 Elefanten”, winner of the Quartz 2010 for Best Documentary Film; and Christian Frei’s “Space Tourists”, which has already been screened at 30 festivals and was honoured with an award at Sundance, will participate in the Sterling World Competition. In addition, “Beyond This Place” by Kaleo La Belle is among the ten films in the Sterling US Competition. The film celebrated its premiere in Nyon at the Visions du Réel Festival and was honoured with an award.
The Silverdocs Festival ranks among the most important for documentary film genre in the United States. It is considered to be a launching pad for a nomination for an Academy Award in the Documentary Film category. Christian Frei, whose film "War Photographer" was nominated for an Oscar in 2002, will attend the festival in Washington to present his film "Space Tourists".
