Three Swiss coproductions in Cannes. “Youth” in International Competition
The minority Swiss coproduction “Youth” by Paolo Sorrentino will be screened in the International Competition at the 68th Festival de Cannes. The festival will present the majority coproduction “Amnesia” at a special screening in conjunction with the Official Selection.

“Youth” by Paolo Sorrentino was coproduced by C-Films (Anne Walser, Zurich) and TSI (Radio Televisione svizzera di lingua italiana). The fiction film is set in the Swiss Alps for the most part: in Hotel Waldhaus in Flims and in Hotel Schatzalp in Davos. Performing alongside Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel are the Swiss actress Heidi Maria Glössner and the Swiss actor Helmut Förnbacher.
The majority Swiss-French coproduction “Amnesia” by Swiss director and actor Barbet Schroeder was coproduced by Vega Film (Ruth Waldburger, Zurich), SRF Swiss Television and Les films du Losange (Paris). The philosophy graduate was an assistant to Jean-Luc Godard and honoured with a César in 2007. His latest fiction film “Amnesia” features Marthe Keller, Bruno Ganz, Joel Basman and Marie Leuenberger, as well as a number of prominent Swiss actors.
This year’s Directors’ Fortnight parallel section will open with the minority coproduction “L’ombre des femmes” by French director Philippe Garrel. The fiction film was coproduced by SBS Productions (Paris) in collaboration with Close Up Films (Ben Saïd / Joelle Bertossa) in Geneva and RTS (Radio télévision suisse). The Swiss cinematographer Renato Berta was behind the camera.
There is still a chance that other Swiss films will find their way to Cannes. The programme for the Directors’ Fortnight parallel section and the International Critics’ Week parallel section will be announced on April 20. The 68th Festival de Cannes will take place from May 13-24, 2015. The promotion agency SWISS FILMS will be present at the Marché du Film in Cannes with the “Pavillon Suisse” in the International Village. The “SWISS FILMS in Cannes” e-booklet, featuring all the Swiss films and latest Swiss productions, will be published at the beginning of May.
