Swiss short films in Cairo

The 16th Cairo International Film Festival for Children, taking place from March 2-9, 2006, presents five Swiss films in the festival competition, among them the short film “Cross My Heart” by Pauline Gygax and Tanoa Despland, and four animated films “Rush” by Claude Luyet and Xavier Robel, “Herr Würfel” by Rafael Sommerhalder (won Best New Talent prize by SSA/Suissimage 2005)), “Banquise” by Claude Barras and Cédric Louis, as well as the European co-production “The Fourth King” by Ted Sieger and Michael Ekbladh (Germany/Great Britain/Sweden/Switzerland).
With the exception of “The Fourth King”. which was recently completed, the selected films have already been presented at numerous international film festivals.
This children’s festival is presided by the same staff that organizes the Cairo International Film Festival in December and is geared toward children and youth under 14 years and their families. The films are bestowed awards both by an international jury of film professionals as well as a children’s jury.
