At the 2007 Viennale, which is Austria’s largest and oldest film festival, the feature film debut “Pas douce” by Jeanne Waltz (Production: Thelma Film Zurich) and the documentary film “Heimatklänge” by Stefan Schwietert (Production: maximage, Zurich) have been invited to participate. The Vienna audience will also be presented with two documentary co-production by Zurich company Dschoint Ventschr: the new film “Staub” by German director Hartmut Bitomsky, and the international co-production “Massaker” by Monika Borgmann, Lokman Slim, and Herman Theissen. The 45th edition of the international festival will take place in Vienna from October 19 – 31, 2007.
The feature film debut “Pas douce” featuring well-known French actress Isild Le Besco in the lead role, and Schwietert’s “Heimatklänge” with Erika Stucky, Noldi Alder, and Christian Zehnder, celebrated their international premiere at this year’s Biennale (International Forum for Young Film). Both films have since participated in numerous festivals and received prizes. The award-winning documentary film “Massaker” also began its festival tour in Berlin in the 2005 Panorama program, while “Staub” recently premiered at the Venice Film Festival.

The Viennale has an emphasis on films with “aesthetic character and current political themes”. Further, the festival, directed by Hans Hurch, focuses on contemporary feature film production, documentary filmmaking, international short film production, and experimental works.
