Swiss political film at Beijing’s new film festival
The Swiss documentary film “Bottled Life – Nestlés Geschäfte mit dem Wasser” by Urs Schnell will be screened at the 2nd Beijing International Film Festival (April 23-28, 2012).

“Bottled Life – Nestlés Geschäfte mit dem Wasser,” a Swiss-German coproduction, takes a closer look behind the scenes of the bottled water industry, lucrative not only in Switzerland or the USA, but also in such countries as Pakistan or Nigeria. Since celebrating its premiere at the Solothurn Film Festival in 2012, the film has sparked a great deal of interest among audiences and triggered numerous debates in the media. Since its premiere, some 11,500 viewers have seen the film in cinemas in Switzerland.
The critical analysis of the Swiss transnational nutrition corporation does not only appeal to the organisers of the festival in Beijing, which is aspiring to rank first among film festivals in China, but also festivals in Europe and in the USA as well: “Bottled Life” was chosen by the jury for the Official Selection at the Peace On Earth Film Festival in Chicago at the end of February. At the same time, it was screened at the CinemaVerde International Film Festival in Gainesville (Florida). The “Docville” Festival held in Louvain and other cities in Belgium (April 28-May 5) will also screen the controversial film in competition.
