Swiss films win in the Czech Republic and Uruguay

The Swiss animation film “Schlaf” by Claudius Gentinetta and Frank Braun won the main prize in the category of Short Films under 5 Minutes, endowed with EUR 1,000, at the 10th Anifest in Teplice, Czech Republic (April 26 - May 1, 2011).

The Swiss animation film “Schlaf” by Claudius Gentinetta and Frank Braun won the main prize in the category of Short Films under 5 Minutes, endowed with EUR 1,000, at the 10th Anifest in Teplice, Czech Republic (April 26 - May 1, 2011). And the feature film “Le quattro volte” by Italian director Michelangelo Frammartino (coproduction: Ventura Film, Meride) won the award for Best Feature Film at the 29th Festival Cinematografico internacional del Uruguay de Montevideo April 18-30, 2011) as well as a Special Mention from the FIPRESCI jury.

"Schlaf", which depicts the "ultimate night's sleep" in 4 minutes, has been honoured with its ninth award since celebrating its premiere at the Festival Anima Mundi in Rio de Janeiro in July 2010. The jury, comprised of five key personalities from the world of animated film, was moved by the "creative and atmospheric marriage of sound and image". The film "Schlaf" has already been screened at 40 international festivals, and is currently being shown at the International Festival of Animated Films in Stuttgart as well as in conjunction with the Short Film Night, which is on tour in German-speaking Switzerland until the end of May.

The commissioned film "Kuubo" by Adrian Flückiger (graduate from the Lucerne School of Art and Design) was presented a Special Mention in the category of Advertisement and Introductory Spots. Fifteen Swiss short film productions participated in the international competition at the Anifest in Teplice.
