Six Swiss films are on the programme of the 30th Guadalajara International Film Festival. “La prenda” by Jean-Cosme Delaloye will be screened in the Documentary Film Competition. In addition, SWISS FILMS will be represented for the first time at the film market of the most important festival in Latin America. Next year Switzerland will be featured as the guest country at the Mexican film festival.

SWISS FILMS will be present for the first time at the Guadalajara Film Market (March 6–11, 2015). The Latin American film market is expanding, thereby offering European films improved chances of also positioning themselves in Latin America. By way of example, this is the case for “La prenda” by Jean-Cosme Delaloye, produced by Tipi'mages Productions in Geneva (World Sales: CAT&Docs). The film will celebrate its world premiere in the Documentary Film Competition at the international film festival in Guadalajara. In his film, the young filmmaker from the Romandy portrays two women fighting to end the climate of impunity in Guatemala, where approximately 4,000 kidnappings occur every year. Jean-Cosme Delaloye will present his film personally in Guadalajara.

SWISS FILMS supports “Pause” and “Chrieg” via Film Sales Support
The two debut films “Pause” by Mathieu Urfer and “Chrieg” by Simon Jaquemet will be screened in the International Panorama and Europe New Trends sections of the film festival in Mexico. The World Rights for the two Swiss films lie with Picture Tree International in Germany, which will be represented at the Guadalajara Film Market this year for the first time and can benefit from the Film Sales Support Programme (FSS) of European Film Promotion (EFP). The EFP programme, backed by MEDIA and SWISS FILMS, enables 14 European films to participate at the leading film market in Latin America.

“Northmen – A Viking Saga” as closing film
“Unter der Haut” de Claudia Lorenz and Stefan Haupt’s “The Circle” will be screening in the Premio Maguay section, and Claudio Fäh’s “Northmen – A Viking Saga” was selected as the festival’s closing film. Film director Claudio Fäh will attend the festival’s closing ceremony together with the film’s leading actor Ryan Kwanten and Daniel Zulauf, deputy head of the Swiss Embassy to Mexico.

Switzerland has been invited as the guest country for the 31st edition of the most important film festival in Latin America in 2016. SWISS FILMS will collaborate with the Guadalajara International Film Festival to curate an extensive programme for the focus on Switzerland.
