The film "La fille & le chasseur," a cut-out animation film production, has already been screened at 30 festivals since it celebrated its premiere in Frankfurt in September 2010. Three other Swiss short film productions will be presented in Toronto: "Yuri Lennon's Landing On Alpha 46" by Anthony Vouardoux, winner of the Swiss Film Prize "Quartz 2011"; as well as the two animation films "Amourette" by Maja Gehrig and "Pink Nanuq" by Jeanine Reutemann.
The festival in Toronto is the most important platform for the short film genre in Canada. Prizes amounting to a total of 70,000 dollars will be awarded. The festival is accredited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which means the winners of the main awards (Fiction and Animation) qualify for an Oscar nomination in the short film categories.
