Swiss Film Award 2025

Bulle Ogier and Barbet Schroeder receive the Honorary Award

18.03.2025

This Friday, March 21, the Swiss Film Awards will be presented in Geneva. This year's Honorary Award has already been announced. It goes to the French-Swiss artistic duo Bulle Ogier and Barbet Schroeder. The couple is among the most influential figures of the “Nouvelle Vague”.

The Honorary Award recognizes their lifetime achievement work and groundbreaking influence on the international film world. The Swiss-French actress Bulle Ogier launched her career in the theatre in the early 1960s before making her breakthrough on the big screen with L'AMOUR FOU. She went on to shine in the most important films of the “Nouvelle Vague”. Her long-time connection to Switzerland is also reflected in her artistic work. She made (Swiss) film history with outstanding roles such as Rosemonde in Alain Tanner's LA SALAMANDRE.

Barbet Schroeder is considered one of the most important Swiss directors internationally. His film career started off in the 1960s as an assistant to Jean-Luc Godard and Eric Rohmer. At the age of 22 he founded his own production company Les Films du Losange, which produced important films of the Nouvelle Vague. Schroeder's international career has been crowned by an Oscar nomination (REVERSAL OF FORTUNE) and a César for Best Documentary (L'AVOCAT DE LA TERREUR). His latest films include the Swiss coproductions LE VÉNÉRABLE W. (2017) and RICARDO ET LA PEINTURE (2023).
