The 20-minute film “Le Printemps de Sant Ponç” by David Epiney and Eugenia Mumenthaler (Bordu Films, Geneva) was awarded the Grand Prize, amounting to 6,000 euros, at the 49th Bilbao International Festival of Documentary and Short Films (November 26 – December 1, 2007) and the Gold Mikeldi for Best Animation”, amounting to 3,000 euros. The Swiss-Italian-Argentinean co-production “La Nación Mapuce” by Fausta Quattrini (production: Fondazione La Fabbrica, Losone) won the award for Best Italian Documentary Film, amounting to 10,000 euros, at the 25th Torino Film Festival (November 23 – December 1).
The animated documentary film “Le Printemps de Sant Ponç” portrays the concerns, spontaneity and stories of mentally disabled people by means of drawings and images. The film, produced by Bordu Films in Geneva, has been honoured with awards at festivals in Arcueil (France), Barcelona, Madrid, Szolnok (Hungary) and Valdivia (Chile) in the past two months.

The jury of the Torino Film Festival selected “La Nación Mapuce” as Best Italian Documentary Film because “the cinematic devices are completely inherent with the subject and thus manage, through the story of the Mapuce folk and its singularity illustrated in key moments, to reveal a glimpse of all of humankind in its astonishing potential.“
