Strong Swiss presence in Amsterdam

Switzerland will be represented with seven films and co-productions at the 20th International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), which runs from November 22 – December 2, 2007.The festival is regarded as the leading documentary film festival in the world. Felix Tissi’s “Desert – Who Is The Man?” (production: Balzli & Fahrer, Bern) will make its premiere in the “Joris Ivens Competition”. In addition, the Finnish-Swiss co-production “Shadow Of The Holy Book” by Arto Halonen (co-production: Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich) will be screened in the international competition. Jan Gassmann and Christian Ziörjen’s debut film “Chrigu”, which has already gained a great deal of attention internationally, will participate in the IDFA Student Competition.
The films “Shake The Devil Off” by Peter Entell and “Vogliamo anche le rose” by Alina Marazzi (co-production: Ventura Film, Meride), both of which made their premiere in Locarno, will be screened in the “Reflecting Images” section. The Egyptian-Swiss production “Salata Baladi” by Nadia Kamel, also co-produced by Ventura Film in Ticino, will be screened in the “Jan Vrijman Film Fund Programme”. The film “Tarifa Traffic” by Swedish director Joakim Demmer, a co-production with Dschoint Ventschr (2003), will be presented in the “In Europe” program in Amsterdam.



Parallel to the IDFA is the twelfth edition of the documentary film market “Docs for Sale”. Together with the films screened at the festival, the market will be offering eight additional Swiss film productions.
