Record for Swiss short film “On The Line” - and award for “Glorious Exit”

The Swiss-German short film “On The Line” by Reto Caffi – already honoured with over thirty international awards – won five more awards last weekend. It won the Grand Prize in Ourense (Spain), Huy (Belgium) and Brno (Czech Republic) and the Audience Award in Cork (Ireland) and Huy. The total sum of these awards amounts to 6,450 euros. The director attended the award ceremony of the 13th Ourense International Film Festival (October 11-18, 2008) to receive the award of 5,000 euros personally. A second award was presented to another Swiss film director at the same festival: Kevin Merz was honoured with the “Gran Premio” for Best Documentary Film, amounting to 5,000 euros, for his documentary film “Glorious Exit”.
The 30-minute graduation film by the 36-year-old director from Bern was also honoured with the Audience Award for Best International Short Film at the 53rd Cork Film Festival (October 12-19, 2008). Two further awards garnered that same weekend at the 8th Festival International Festival for Cinema Schools (FIDEC): along with the Audience Award, amounting to 200 euros, the jury presented the film the International Grand Prix, amounting to 1,250 euros. And to round off the weekend, “On The Line” was awarded the Grand Prize – called “The Head Full of Films” – at the 49th Festival “Sixteen” in Brno (October 15-19, 2008).



The film was shot in Switzerland and features Roeland Wisnekker in the leading role. Since ist release, it has been honoured with 33 awards, including the Student Oscar of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), the Grand Prix of the Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand and the “Quartz” for Best Short Film of the Swiss Film Prize 2008.
