Switzerland is the guest country at the 27th Interfilm International Short Film Festival in Berlin (November 15-20, 2011). A retrospective called “Heidi Revisited” will showcase 40 Swiss film productions, encompassing four thematic programmes. SWISS FILMS, the promotion agency, is the event partner and has provided support for eleven Swiss filmmakers to attend the festival. In addition, five short film productions from Switzerland will be screened in the various competitions of this festival in Berlin.

The programmes of the impressive Swiss retrospective encompass the following four themes: "Nightmare Alps" features nine films which paint a bleak scenario; "Fondue animée" comprises 15 animation films which cast doubt over whether Switzerland is really in the heart of Europe; "Satiricorti" presents nine short satires; while "I ha di garn" depicts in the Swiss style seven examples of conflicts within families and relationships.

The candidates for awards in the International Competition include the two Swiss animation films "Evermore" by Philip Hofmänner and "La mort est dans le champ" by Patrick Chappatte and Marco Dellamula. The animated cartoon film "Der grosse Bruder" by Jesús Pérez and Elisabeth Hüttermann will participate in the KUKI Competition for Children and Youth, which runs parallel to the festival. Two films will be presented in the "Eject - The Long Night of Odd Films" competition: "She Wolf" by Riccardo Bernasconi and Francesca Reverdito; and "Gipfel-Gig" by Lukas Egger and Bernhard Bamert. Alex Meier is in the running for the Viral Video Award with his film "Secret Clooney Spot."

The eleven-member Swiss delegation in Berlin is comprised of the directors of the films screened in competition, together with filmmakers Chris Niemeyer, Nicolas Steiner, François Rossier and Ivana Lalovic, as well as the festival delegates from the International Short Film Festival Winterthur and the Shnit Festival in Bern.
