“La Forteresse” wins award in Germany

Fernand Melgar’s much-acclaimed documentary film “La Forteresse” won the “Horizonte” award, amounting to 1,500 euros, at the 3rd “Fünf Seen Filmfestival” in Bavaria (July 27-August 4, 2009). It competed against five other films in the competition of the festival, which was held in the Bavarian cities of Starnberg, Herrsching and Seefeld.
After “La Forteresse” won the Golden Leopard in the Filmmakers of the Present section in Locarno in August 2008, it received invitations to numerous festivals and was a box-office hit in Swiss cinemas, with ticket sales amounting to 43,000. The documentary film about asylum-seekers in Switzerland was also honoured with awards at film festivals in Buenos Aires, Florence, Montreal and Teheran.
