Klopfenstein at Mostra in Venice
14.08.2009
The 24-minute film “The It.Aliens”, co-directed by the Swiss artist Clemens Klopfenstein and his son Lukas Klopfenstein, will conclude the “Corto Cortissimo” section which is devoted exclusively to short film productions. This means that together with Pipilotti Rist, another icon of Swiss film and video productions will be in the limelight of the 66th Mostra Venice International Film Festival (September 2-12, 2009).
The film “The It.Aliens” is the first part of a series of documentary short films about Italians. Already in January of this year, Clemens and Lukas Klopfenstein surprised the audience of the Rotterdam Film Festival with “Weg nach Rio”, another short film co-directed by the two.
Switzerland is thus present with four film productions at this year’s Mostra in Venice: Pipilotti Rist’s “Pepperminta” will celebrate ist premiere on September 5; Stefano Knuchel’s documentary film “Hugo en Afrique” will be screened on September 6; and on September 4 the fiction film in “La Berceuse” by Tunisian director Raja Amari, coproduced in Switzerland. These three films will compete in the “Orizzonti” section. The short film “The It.Aliens” will be screened in the “Corto Cortissimo” competition as the section’s concluding film on September 10.
