The cinema release for the fiction film “Nachtlärm” by Christoph Schaub in Germany, as well as for the three documentary films “Die Kinder vom Napf” by Alice Schmid in Slovenia, “Sagrada” by Stefan Haupt in Germany and “Regilaul” by Ulrike Koch in Belgium, Holland and Luxemburg, have been subsidised with a total of CHF 48,392. With this instrument, the Swiss Federal Office of Culture (SFOC), in collaboration with SWISS FILMS, improves the chances of success for Swiss film productions abroad.

The international distribution of Swiss film productions and coproductions involving a Swiss director has been subsidised since 2007. Foreign distribution companies which release Swiss film productions in cinemas abroad receive a maximum of CHF 30,000 per film and subsidised country. Grants cannot be accumulated with the MEDIA selective support programme.

Applications are reviewed by the SFOC’s Release and Diversity Committee, in collaboration with SWISS FILMS. The subsidy was granted for four Swiss film productions in the third round of allocations in September 2012. The next round of allocations is in December 2012.
