14.01.2004
The 2003 Hungarian Film Critics’ Prize for Best Documentary Film goes to the Swiss film “Mutter” (Mother) by Miklos Gimes (Production T&C Film, Zurich). The Hungarian Critics’ Prize has been awarded for 40 years and is regarded as highly prestigious in Hungary. The award ceremony will be taking place in Budapest on January 21.
The film is about the eventful life of Lucy Gimes who fled to Switzerland with her 6-year-old son after the Hungarian Revolution in 1956, while her husband – one of the leading counterrevolutionaries – was executed.
Finished in 2002 by her son Miklos, the film participated at the International Forum of New Cinema in Berlin, Germany, in 2003. It has since been shown in Hungarian movie theatres and has received great interest from both the audience and the press.
