11.08.2009

Four Swiss film productions and coproductions will be presented at the 15th Sarajevo Film Festival, which is held in the capital city of Bosnia-Herzegovina (August 12-20, 2009). The film “Ordinary People” by Serbian director Vladimir Perisic (coproduction: Prince Film, Jura) is one of the ten films in the running for the “Heart of Sarajevo” Award for Best Film.
The fiction film “Un autre homme” (Another Man) by Lionel Baier will be screened in the Panorama programme and the documentary film “Dirty Paradise” by Daniel Schweizer will be presented at a special screening, following its premiere at the 62nd Locarno Film Festival. In addition, the film “I Drink Your Bathwater” by the Swiss video artist Pipilotti Rist will be screened in the “Stories on Human Rights” series, a collective presentation comprised of 22 three-minute short films by 24 film directors commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Her first fiction film “Pepperminta” has been invited to the 66th Mostra in Venice.

The competition for feature films at the Sarajevo Film Festival is one of the most important platforms for filmmaking from Southeast Europe. Prizes amounting to a total of 50,000 euros will be awarded at the festival. In 2006 Andrea Staka was honoured with the festival’s main prize – the “Heart of Sarajevo” Award, endowed with 25,000 euros – with her debut film “Das Fräulein”.
