Four awards for “Tableau noir” in Locarno
The documentary film “Tableau noir,” which was screened in the International Competition, and four Swiss short films screened in the “Pardi di domaini” national section were honoured with awards at the 66th Festival del film Locarno (August 7-17, 2013).

The documentary film “Tableau noir” by Yves Yersin (“Les petites fugues”), which portrays a class comprised of mixed age groups in a mountain school situated at 1,100 metres in the Swiss Jura, received a Special Mention from both the International and the Ecumenical Jury. In addition, the festival’s Junior Jury awarded the film the Environment is Quality of Life prize, endowed with CHF 3'000, as well as the Europa Cinemas Label prize, which fosters the circulation of the film on the screens of the Europa Cinemas Association. The latter was awarded for the first time this year. The touching school portrait was also well received by the festival audience and film critics.
Pardino d’oro for “’A iucata”
The film “’A iucata” was honoured with the Pardino d’oro for Best Swiss Short Film in the National Competition of the “Pardi di domaini” section, endowed with CHF 10,000. Michele Pennetta’s 38-minute documentary film addresses the issue of illegal horse racing in Sicily.
Marcel Barelli’s animation film “Vigia” won the “Pardino d’argento,” endowed with CHF 5,000. Marina Rosset was honoured with the Premio Action Light Prize for Best Swiss Newcomer for her latest animation film “La fille aux feuilles.” The Junior Jury for the “Pardi di domaini” section presented Jan-Eric Mack’s 19-minute fiction film “Alfonso” about a stage hypnotist the award for Best Short Film, endowed with CHF 1,500.
