Five Swiss films featuring at the Warsaw Film Festival

The 24th Warsaw Film Festival, held between 10 and 19 October 2008 in the Polish capital, is presenting five films from Switzerland: the film “Un autre homme” by Lionel Baier (Saga Production, Lausanne) is in the running for the “Free Spirit Award” worth € 3,000 in the competition of the same name: this award is reserved for independent, rebellious films from all over the world. Two short films are also featuring in the competition: “Monsieur Sélavy- The Way It Is” by Peter Volkart and “Roots” by Eileen Hofer.
The section “Discoveries”, which concentrates on the various ways of looking at today's world, contains the film “The Other Half” by Rolanda Colla (production by Peacock Film, Zurich), whilst the co-production “Tulpan” by Sergei Dvortsevoy (co-production with Cobra Film, Zurich) will be screened as the festival’s closing film.
The Film Festival in Warsaw – acknowledged by the FIPAF International Federation of Film Producers Associations – has been presenting over 180 films from 50 different country every year since 1995. Short films are screened in ten programme blocks. Around 90,000 viewers attend the festival.
