Five short films from Switzerland in Oberhausen

02.05.2007

The 53rd International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, taking place from May 3 – 8, 2007, will be showing the short film “Je suis une bombe” by video artist Elodie Pong, the experimental work “Twist” by Alexia Walther and the Swiss co-production “Summer of '85” von Rowan al Faqih (Lago Films, Geneva und Akka Films, Geneva), all in the international competition section. For the children’s and youth competition, the two short films “Schnäbi” by Luzius Wespe (Production: HGK Zurich) and “Punkt & Striche” by Jésus Pérez have been selected.
The International Short Film Festival, which is located in the German Ruhr region and is one of the oldest film festivals worldwide, has become known for interfacing art and film. In addition to the festival competitions, numerous special sections round out the program. The “Kinomuseum” program, for example, highlights the relationship between cinema and museum.

As part of a debate among international experts on contemporary short films, a panel will discuss the development of digital platforms at festivals and the future of European festival networks. Members of the panel are representatives of the International Short Film Festival Winterthur.

A market targeting the film industry will take place in conjunction with the festival, with approximately 80 short films from Switzerland to be discovered.
