The festive opening of the series is the German premiere of “Mein Name ist Bach” on April 7th in the presence of director Dominique Rivaz and main actors Vadim Glowna and Jürgen Vogel. This film previously won Best Fiction Film and Best Supporting Role at the 2004 Swiss Film Prize awards. The full program from April 16 – 30, 2004, will be opened by Ursula Meier with “Des épaules solides.“ Sylvie Lazzarini, Vincent Pluss (“On dirat le sud”,Swiss Film Prize 2003), and François Rossier are also expected to attend the screenings of their movies. The opening reception is sponsored by the Swiss Embassy in Berlin, the Filmkunsthaus Babylon, and SWISS FILMS.
At the center of the series are films representing new trends of Swiss filmmaking and productions that reflect a fresh and unconventional look at reality. These contemporary films are complemented by famous classics from the 70s and 80s, such as “Les petites fugues”, “Jonas qui aura 25 ans en l’an 2000” as well as “La dentellière”. Sylvie Lazzarini’s, François Rossier’s, and Dominique de Rivaz’ films represent the work of three Swiss directors living in Berlin.
