Erich Langjahr honored
02.09.2004
At the festival “Der Neue Heimatfilm”, which took place from August 25-29 in Freistadt, Austria, Erich Langjahr was honored for his life’s work. In addition to his film trilogy “Alpine Ballade” (1996), “Peasants’ War” (1998), and “Shepherds’ Journey into the Third Millenium” (2000), his first long film “The Battle of Morgarten” (1978) was screened. The festival’s audience prize went to “Shepherds’ Journey into the Third Millenium,” which has already received numerous awards.
“With his films, Swiss documentary filmmaker Erich Langjahr has been searching for human identity for more than 30 years. Doing so, he simultaneously discusses the changing of time through his intensive and empathic visual imagery. This year, Langjahr celebrates his 60th birthday, and he is receiving the Honorary Award of the City of Freistadt as part of the festival.” (Festival catalogue excerpt).
