Five Swiss documentary films will be screened at the 26th International Festival of Audiovisual Programmes (FIPA) in Biarritz (January 22-27, 2013). Two films from Switzerland will be presented in the Documentary Film Competition and are thus in running for FIPA d’Or Grand Prize: “Botiza,” the chronicle of a village in the Carpathians in Rumania will celebrate its world premiere in the city in southwest France. In “Das bessere Leben ist anderswo” film director Rolando Colla sheds light on the dreams and desires of three people in Bosnia, Cuba and Switzerland. Stéphanie Argerich’s film “Bloody Daughter,” in which the director portrays her parents Martha Argerich and Stephen Kovacevich – both famous pianists – will be screened in the Music and Spectacle Competition. The Swiss musician and composer Marcel Vaid is a member of this year’s Festival Jury.
Two films at FIPATEL Market
The IPA Film and Television Festival is one of the most important in Europe. In terms of form and content, it presents an exclusive showcase of outstanding films for the cinema or television, irrespective of their method of production. The festival attracts a great number of professionals in the industry, who will also have the opportunity to discover two further Swiss productions: “D'une jungle à l'autre” by Raymond Vouillamoz and “Sagrada” by Stefan Haupt at the FIPATEL television market, which runs parallel to the festival.
