Two Swiss films were honoured with awards at the 11th CinemAmbiente Environmental Film Festival in Turin (October 16-21, 2008): Marina Rosset’s short animation film “The Bear's Hand” won the prize for Best Short Animation Film, amounting to 2,500 euros; and Hartmut Bitomsky’s “Staub”, a co-production with Dschoint Ventschr, was presented the “Special Mention Green Cross”. The fiction film “Tulpan” by Sergei Dvortsevoy, co-produced by Cobra Film in Zurich, won the “Louve d’Or” at the 37th Festival du Nouveau Cinéma in Montreal (October 8-19, 2008).
The two directors, Marina Rosset and Hartmut Bitomsky, attended the award ceremony in Turin, where the three-member jury selected the short animated film “The Bear's Hand” from eleven films. Kazakh director Sergei Dvortsevoy was selected for the Best Feature Film Award at the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma in Montreal, which is devoted to independent films. He had already won two awards in Cannes with “Tulpan” and was the main prize-winner of the 4th Zurich Film Festival.
