The documentary film “Rouge parole” by Tunisian director Elyes Baccar, a coproduction between Tunisia, Qatar and Switzerland (producer: Akka Films, Geneva) was honoured with the award for Best Documentary Film, endowed with EUR 6,000, at the 22nd African, Asian and Latin American Film Festival in Milan (March 19-25, 2012). The short animation films “Schlaf” by Claudius Gentinetta and Frank Braun as well as Georges Schwizgebel’s “Romance” were both presented an award for sound design at the 12th MONSTRA – Lisbon Animated Film Festival (March 19-25, 2012).

Following the popular upheaval in Tunisia leading to the overthrow of President Ben Ali, the film “Rouge parole” gives a voice to those who were forced to remain silent for 20 years. Coproduced by Genevan director and producer Nicolas Wadimoff (“Aisheen – Still Alive in Gaza”), who promotes a better understanding of the Arab world with his films, the film convinced the three-member jury. The jury’s statement was as follows: “…for the capacity to approach a very controversial and topical subject going beyond the journalistic approach with a view that is always balanced and attentive to facts and people and with special attention to the cinematographic quality of the film.”

The five-member international jury of the MONSTRA in Lisbon presented the award for Best Soundtrack to the four-minute animation film “Schlaf,” marking it as the thirteenth award since its premiere in August 2010. The same jury awarded the music of the film “Romance” with an Honourable Mention for best soundtrack.
