Two Swiss short film productions were honoured with awards at international festivals last weekend: Nicolas Steiner’s “Ich bin’s Helmut”, which was shot in a single take and is a coproduction with Germany, won the award for Best Student Film, amounting to 2,500 dollars at the 40th Molodist Kyiv Film Festival (October 23-31, 2010). Chris Niemeyer’s “Las Pelotas” won the Audience Prize at the 13th “La boca del lobo” International Short Film Festival in Madrid (October 20-30, 2010).
The film "Ich bin's Helmut", which is nominated for the German Short Film Award 2010 (cf. press release on October 25), was among the 23 student film productions in the running for the award in Kiev. The six-member international jury was presided over by French director Marc Caro ("Delicatessen").
The award in Madrid is the ninth award and third Audience Prize for the film, which was also the winner of the Swiss Film Prize Quartz 2010 for Best Short Film.
