Award for Swiss Film «Straehl»

The director of the movie “Straehl”, Manuel Flurin Hendry, was given the 5,000-Euro NDR-Director’s award at the 14th FilmKunstFest Schwerin, Germany, which ended on May 9th, 2004. The jury’s justification noted that “the movie conquered our hearts in a strange fashion. It is edgy, unruly and tells the story of outcasts we sometimes call “trash” though it does not glorify anything – on the contrary. And it does not leave us without hope either… The film is marked by its special energy, strength, honesty, and directness.”
The film, produced by the Zurich company Dschoint Ventschr, has been playing in Swiss cinemas since March 25th (Distribution Look Now!). At the Zurich movie theatre Riff Raff, near Langstrasse, where the story takes place, “Straehl” has already attracted 15’000 visitors.
