Annecy 2021: Shower of awards for Swiss animated films

In its 2021 edition, the most important film festival for animated film in Annecy awards several Swiss animated films. ÉCORCE (PEEL) by Samuel Patthey and Silvain Monney wins the "Cristal for a Short Film" - the main prize of the short film competition. Three Swiss coproductions by the successful producers Nicolas Burlet and Zoltán Horváth (Nadasdy Film) are awarded prizes in other sections.
The Swiss production ÉCORCE by Samuel Patthey and Silvain Monney was awarded the Cristal for the best short film in the official competition. The 15-minute animated short was produced by DOK Mobile (Mark Olexa, Francesca Scalisi) from Fribourg together with RTS Radio Télévision Suisse. ECORCE had celebrated its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival 2020.
Annecy also saw three other prizes for French-Swiss animated films, all coproduced by the Geneva-based production company Nadasdy Film. VANILLE, directed by Guillaume Lorin, was awarded the "Cristal for a TV production", the main prize of the competition for tv films. KIKO ET LES ANIMAUX by Yawen Zheng received the Young Audience Award and UN CAILLOU DANS LA CHAUSSURE by Eric Montchaud the Junior Jury Award.
The Festival International du film d'animation d'Annecy is the world's largest festival for animated films. Switzerland will be invited as a guest country in 2022 and Swiss animation will be in the spotlight at numerous programmes and events.
