19th award for “The Man Without a Shadow”

The short animated film “L’homme sans ombre/The Man Without a Shadow” by Georges Schwizgebel (Co-production: Studio GDS, Geneva) won the prize for Best Animated Film Series as part of the award ceremony for the 21st Gemini Prizes for Film and Television in French-speaking Canada on December 9, 2006. This is the film’s 19th award since its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004.
The prize was bestowed by Télétoon to the film’s main producer, script writer, and director Georges Schwizgebel, as well as to his co-producer from Quebec. The “Gemini” Prizes are awarded by the “Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television” in three categories with a total of 44 prizes.
Georges Schwizgebel has also re-entered the limelight with his most recent animated film “Jeu/Play”, which has won six prizes since it premiered in Locarno in August 2006. The film has been nominated for the 2007 Swiss Film Prize in the “Best Animated Film” category, which will be bestowed at the Solothurn Film Festival on January 24.
