The film journeys into the world of the bushmen, to the hunters and gatherers who once populated the entire region of southern Africa. They were virtually decimated by the white colonists. What remains is their unique rock paintings. Descendants of the white colonists became interested in these primitive people, discovered the significance of their art and myths and searched for links to the past and those “ancestors” which were physically displaced and psychologically dismissed. For the indigenous, this link to the past takes a different course. For some of them, their ancestors include the spirits of the long-lost bush people who had once inhabited and painted the caves – places of special healing powers – and whose presence is still manifested there.
