The new CEO Thomas Graf, a successful manager, is to carry out the merger plans between a Swiss and a German insurance company. During the restructuring stage, a staff member commits suicide. This brings an unexpected turning point in Graf's career, which had been until now a rapid climb upwards. The story takes place in the setting of a modern working world, which is dominated more than ever by globalisation, restructuring and profit maximisation. And this at the cost of the simple employee. This framework, combined with a focus on the human capacity for love, hate, irony, melancholy and bitterness, gives the film an explosive relevance to the present.
