A bugle blows the wakeup call. To the rhythm of rock music, director Kate Reidy then portrays the history of Geneva's “Etat d'Urgences” association in a series of photos, posters and newspaper articles. In search of a suitable location, the group settled in an old factory in 1989 after countless confrontations with the police and municipal authorities. “L'usine” has since become one of Geneva's most important alternative cultural centers. In addition to a bar, it's also home to a theatre, a cabaret revue, and the “Spoutnik” cinema, where Kate Reidy worked for ten years. In her 1998 departure film “place aux volontaires”, she once again encounters her former colleagues and discusses the cooperative's ideals with them.
